Adele Ann Strubel passed away March 12, 2017, in Fort Wayne, IN. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she grew up in Brooklyn and Centerport where she had a love of art and family. She met the love of her life, Edward, on the ice of the Mill Pond 54 years ago. After a short courtship they were married and moved to Florida.

Having graduated from SUNY Buffalo with a degree in art education, she taught elementary school art in Fort Lauderdale. She would have her first son, Edward, during Hurricane Isbell while living there. Circumstances had her return to Long Island, New York, where she had her second child, Christopher, and concentrated on the task of raising her children.

In 1980, the family moved to Fort Wayne for the next chapter in their lives. She enjoyed reading and doing volunteer work at Hoagland Elementary School. She was a great teller of larger-than-life stories and beloved by all who met her, truly unforgettable.

Surviving are: son Edward III (Barb) Strubel, son Christopher (Corinne) Strubel, granddaughters Ivy (Adam) Hanford and Mae Strubel, great grandson Gabriel Hanford, and brother Richard (Diana) Rzehak. She was preceded in death by her husband (Edward Strubel) and beloved parents Aline and Rudolph Rzehak. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m., Monday, March 20, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church on Brooklyn Avenue in Fort Wayne. Calling will be from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne.
