COLUMBIA - Lt. Colonel Adrian L. “Hoss” Cordoni USAF (Ret.) died peacefully on January 28, 2017 in Wilmington, North Carolina at the age of 86.



Lt. Col. Adrian Cordoni was born on August 10, 1930 in El Cerrito, California to Michael Cordoni and Dora L. Sherif. He graduated from high school in 1948 and attended Placer College for two years prior to joining the United States Air Force. On September 13, 1952 Adrian graduated from flight school and for 20 years, 3 months and 28 days served our country as one of the greatest pilots, ever. He flew the B-25, T-33, KC-97, B-29, B-47 and the RB-66 Destroyer. Lt. Col. Cordoni flew missions in the Korean War and courageously flew two tours of duties during the Vietnam War in the RB-66 destroyer. After the Vietnam War he was a hurricane flyer and pilot trainer until he retired on August 1, 1971.



Adrian Cordoni graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in International Political Science. He was a 32 degree Mason at Sumter Lodge 364, a member of Fort Jackson Radio Control Aircraft Club, the Palmetto Model A Club, the Sons of Italy and for many years he was a volunteer for the Shephard Center in Columbia.



Adrian Cordoni was preceded in death by his parents; brothers; and his two loving wives, Lenore Jones Cordoni and Dola L. George. Surviving are his children, Glenda Cordoni Browning (Bill) of Leland, North Carolina, Michael Burton Cordoni (Susan) of Columbia, Lorie Orzell (Joe) of Myrtle Beach, and Joseph Patrick Cordoni ( Angel) of Winston Salem; stepsons, Alex George (Wanda), Scott Clark, Stephen Clark (Patty) all of Columbia, SC; step-daughters, Debra Trostle (Roger) of Columbia, Donna Rothell (Jerry) of Gilbert, Gina George Brayman (Chris) of Dearborn Heights, Michigan; grandchildren, Bill Browning, Mike Browning. Glen Browning, Chris Cordoni, John Cordoni, Leah Cordoni, Adrian Cordoni, Cameron Cordoni, Bendon Trosle, Erin Schuetze, Caroline Clark, Cody George, Nicole Rothell, Adam Rothell, Stephanie Clark, Allen Clark, Victoria Brayman and Brianna Brayman; great-grandchildren, Brianna Browning, Skylar Browning, Jackson Browning, Emilia Browning, Margo Schuetze and Scarlett Schuetze .



Services for Adrian L. Cordoni will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, in Columbia. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
