Albert J. Aucoin Jr. passed away in the early morning of December 17, 2017 at the age of 70. He was born December 03, 1947 and remained a New Orleans native deeply engrossed in the local customs his entire life. Albert was born by Albert J. and Alma G. Aucoin, who both predecease him, as does his step-father – Dennis “Heavy” Aucoin. He is survived by his adored wife: Darnel A. Aucoin; two sons: Albert “Treis” Aucoin III and Brandon B. Aucoin (Missy); siblings: Carol Aucoin Hernandez (Jim), Gemma Aucoin Heaslip (Rob), Edward S. Aucoin (Audrey) and Adele Aucoin Trepagnier (George) and a multitude of nieces and nephews and other loved family members. Al truly touched the heart of every person he came in contact. Al was the quintessential family man that deeply loved and cherished his family by providing more than anyone could ever ask for. His heart knew no bounds as he continued to donate his care and love to all of those in need. Al excelled at all parts of his life. He began by earning a degree from Cor Jesu High School. After graduation, he enlisted as a serviceman in the U.S. Navy, where he spent two years on a tour in Vietnam. Following his duty to the military, Al returned to marry his soul mate, Darnel, who he absolutely treasured from the time of their first kiss to the time he passed. Shortly after meeting the woman of his dreams, he earned an accounting degree from U.N.O. and was one of the few to pass his C.P.A. exam on first try. He joined the AICPA, where he built and ran a highly successful firm in Metairie over his 43 year career. But it wasn’t all hard work and no play for Al. As a 43-year member of the Krewe of Bacchus and a 22-year member of the Rex organization, Al loved him some Mardi Gras! But he didn’t shy away from his duties on the golf course and men’s grill at Metairie Country Club either. He enjoyed 35 years of fun with his buddies, where he loved his favorite pastimes of chasing golf balls, flipping gin cards and sharing jokes and stories. Aside from enjoying life, Al was an avid supporter of many charities, where he exemplified the motto of the Rex organization of “Pro Bono Publico” or “for the public good”. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. with visitation to begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private at a later date in St. Louis Cemetery No. 3. In lieu of flowers, donations to Magnolia Community Services (100 Central Ave, Jefferson, LA, 70121) or Henry Aucoin Foundation (P.O. Box 642, Metairie, LA, 70004) in his name would be greatly appreciated. The family invites you to share fond memories and condolences at www.lakelawnmetairie.com. Please share your most favorite story of Al, as this memory is the priceless thing that can never be replaced but will always be remembered.
