SPECIALIST CHIEF PETTY OFFICER (U.S. Navy Retired) Albert Ray Daniels, Jr., 65, transitioned from labor to eternal rest on Wednesday, January 31, 2018. He was born on May 2, 1952 in Florence County to Willie and Lizzie Davis Daniels. Albert was educated in the public schools of Florence County. On February 8, 1970, he enlisted in the United States Navy, in which he served proudly for several years. During his time in the military, he was awarded with several Navel Achievements Merits, which would include: Two National Defense Service Medals, The Southeastern Asia Service Medal, Five Good Conduct Medals, Battle (E) Meritorious Unit Commendation, Five Sea Service Deployment Ribbons and the Coast Guard Special Operator Service Medal. After 21 years of decorated service, Albert was Honorably Discharged on July 31, 1991 as a Specialist Chief Petty Officer. At an early age, Albert was baptized at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Florence, South Carolina, where he was a member of the Trustee Board. In 2017, Albert changed his membership and became a member of New Zion Baptist Church #2 in Florence, South Carolina. In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by his daughter, Christina “Precious” Daniels; maternal grandparents, Charlie Owens and Lena Galloway; paternal grandmother, Hannah Daniels Addison; two sisters, Corine and Pasty Daniels; one brother, Willie Daniels, Jr.; sister-in-law, Carolyn Douglas; brother-in-law, Eugene Jackson; and two nieces and three nephews. Albert will be truly missed by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his passing, his loving daughter and apple of his eye, Jasmine Marie Daniels; step-daughter, Nijah Hunter; two sisters, Lena Daniels Jackson and Hannah Gurley; four brothers: Walter Douglas, James Charlie Daniels, Lee (Valerie) Daniels and Jerome (Joeann) Daniels; one aunt, Lillian Jackson; sister-in-law, Freddie Mae Daniels; brother-in-law, Nathaniel Gurley; nephew and nieces reared in the home: Monroe Daniels, Alfredia Jones and Fenecia Law; special friend, Smiley Weldom; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
