Alene J. Hall 90, of Keene, NH, passed away peacefully at her home in Keene on Sunday, April 2, 2017, surrounded in love by her family.

A lifelong resident of Keene, Alene was born in Keene on February 24, 1927, the daughter of Mildred (Oliver) Willard, and was a 1945 graduate of Keene High School. In 1951 she married Creighton G. Hall at the United Church of Christ in Keene.

Mrs. Hall worked as a bookkeeper with the former Kresge and Jupiter Stores in Keene, and also worked at the National Grange Insurance Company of Keene. Later, she worked for Multiple Listing Service also in Keene.

In addition to her work responsibilities as well as raising her family, Alene was also very active within her community. She was treasurer of the VFW Post 799 Auxiliary for over 45 years; past president, treasurer and longtime member of the Yankee Bottle Club; and past treasurer and longtime member of the Sons of the Union Veterans Auxiliary. She was also a longtime member of the United Church of Christ in Keene where she taught Sunday school and was the assistant treasurer of the Women's Fellowship.

In her earlier years, Alene was a majorette with the Keene Girls Drum and Bugle Corp. Later in life, she was an avid collector of dolls. She sewed and knitted doll clothes for her own dolls and also to sell at church bazaars.

She will be greatly missed by her husband of 66 years, Creighton G. Hall of Keene; her children, Marshall P. Hall and his wife, Zoe of Maynard, MA, Barry D. Hall of Winchester, NH, Cullen R. Hall of Winchester, NH, Julene Gilmore of Swanzey, NH, Darren C. Hall of Keene; four grandchildren, Vicky Smith, Caleb Atwood-Hall, Kerry Hall, Patrick Hall; four great-grandchildren, Mikaila Emmond, Leah Smith, Dylan Hall, Taylor Hall; two sisters-in-law, Mary Hall and Dena Patnaude, both of Keene; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Ronald Willard; and a daughter-in-law, Cindy Hall.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 11:00AM in the United Church of Christ, 23 Central Square, Keene. Burial in the Monadnock View Cemetery, Park Avenue, Keene, will be private. There are no public calling hours.
