Alf Johannes Abrahamsen The Apostle Paul writes in Holy Scripture that the joy of the Lord is our strength. Proverbs reminds us that "a merry heart is as good as any medicine." On October 21, 1937, God gave to us an ambassador of joy and laugher when Alf Johannes was born in Lista, Norway to Martin & Severine Abrahamsen. Johannes migrated to the US in 1962 and lived in Brooklyn, NY. He married Aslaug (Olufsen) on January 25, 1962. Johannes worked as a carpenter and was a member of the 66th Street Evangelical Free Church in Brooklyn. He enjoyed spending much of the summer at Camp Spofford in NH with his family and friends. He was a hardworking man who enjoyed woodworking, mechanics, telling stories, and drinking coffee. But most important to him was spending time with his family who will miss him dearly. Johannes went Home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July, 21, 2016 where he is now telling all the stories he once shared with us. He is survived by his wife Aslaug. Sons: Stanley, Allen, Johnny & Steven. Daughter in laws: Debbie, Arlene, Leah & Debra. Grandchildren: Tory, Tyler, Hannah, Amalia, Aiden, Anika, Owen, Jakob, Emma, Isak, Maia, Kaiden, Kristian & Isaiah. Siblings: Astrid, Magne, Svanhild, & Helge. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his son Arvid, grandaughter Sanna, and brother Hilmar. Praise God for the memory of a great husband, father, father-in-law, Bestefar, and friend! A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Sunday, July 31 at the Bethany Lutheran Brethren Church, 116 Walnut Hill Rd East Hartland. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers please make a memorial donation to Camp Spofford, 24 NH-9A, Spofford, NH 03462.
