Alfred P. Flores, Sr. passed away on Wednesday October, 11 2017 at approximately 7 a.m. in his sleep. Alfred was a native of San Antonio, Texas but moved to New Orleans in his teens . At the age of 21 he entered the Army to fight for his country in WWII. When the war was over he returned to New Orleans where he met and married Helena L. Wertz. They moved to Metairie in 1950 where he remained until his death.

Alfred had many hobbies and interests. He made boats, built an addition on his home and after the loss of his wife, began making guitars. What started as a hobby quickly became a business with sales as far away as New York City. He loved the process of making something from nothing and took pride in his work. The only thing that would take him away from his guitar making was fishing. When a customer would ask how long it would take to make a guitar his answer was, “I don’t know because if I get a chance to go fishing, that comes first.”

Alfred was preceded in death by his mother Janie Pacheco and his father John Flores from San Antonio Texas. Also preceding him in death was his wife of 53 years Helena Lillian Wertz.

Alfred is survived by his children Alfred P. Flores Jr. (Faye), Janet Flores LeCompte (Benny) and John Joseph Flores (Joan); his grandchildren, Alfred P. Flores, lll ( Jessica), Jennifer L. Walker (Ted), Blain H. LeCompte (Lindy), Brad M. LeCompte, and William Flores; and his great-grandchildren, Ryan Walker, Reed Walker, Luke LeCompte, Cayden Flores, Reed and Logan Flores and Harley LeCompte.
