Alfred Wayne Anderson, 74, passed away on Friday, Sep. 8, 2017, at Atrium Post Acute Care in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

Wayne was born Sep. 15, 1942, in Traverse City, Michigan, to Alfred M. and Ardene (Fisher) Anderson. He graduated from Traverse City Senior High School in 1961 and attended Northwestern Michigan College. In 1962, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Beulah, Mich., he married the former Sandra Widrig with whom he would spend the next 55 years.

He then began his career in retailing, starting as delivery driver for the Gambles store in downtown Traverse City, progressing to several management positions throughout the Midwest with the Tempo division of Gamble Skogmo, Inc. Always the organizer, his keen, strategic mind lead him through life "planning his work, then working his plan."

Returning to Traverse City in the late '70s, Wayne was a familiar face in the floor covering industry, Brown lumber and lastly as retail Director of Sales for Goodwill Industries of Northern Michigan. After retirement, he and Sandy spent many fun-filled years between Traverse City and Sarasota, Florida.

Wayne was known for his sense of humor, playing practical jokes on family and friends. He was a great storyteller, entertaining everyone with (tall) tales of family history and personal experiences. He loved the good times he had with his longtime pals, the Merchant brothers, especially his best buddy, Dick.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting knives, ballpoint pens and baseball caps. Experimenting with new kitchen gadgets always made him happy (Sandy, not so much. She had to clean up afterwards).

Besides his wife, Wayne is survived by his daughters, Lori M. Scheier (Steve) of Stevens Point, Lisa M. Anderson of Kalkaska, Mich.; and grandchildren, Rachel Moore of Traverse City, and Aaron Moore of Kalkaska. Also, special canine friend of 18 years, Kelsey Jack, who met Wayne at the Rainbow Bridge on Sep. 11, 2017. Red Frisbees are now sailing through the field.

The family would like to thank the very caring staff at the Atrium, where Wayne resided the past 11 months. Special thanks, also, to Pastor Steve Hulke of St. Paul Lutheran Church and Ministry Home Care Hospice Services.

At Wayne's request, no services will be held at this time. A memorial service will be held in Traverse City at a later date. Pisarski Funeral Homes & Cremation Center are assisting the family. For online condolences, please visit www.pisarskifuneralhome.com.
