Dr. Ali M. Alli was born and raised with his 2 brothers and 3 sisters in Alexandria, Egypt, he received his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alexandria. Having been awarded one of only two graduate scholarships given to the top engineering students in all of Egypt, he came to the United States in 1963 and received his Masters and Doctorate in Industrial Engineering at Oklahoma State University. He had a passion for teaching and scientific research, including authoring several research papers, contributing to multiple textbooks, and he was involved in engineering research at NASA and Texas Instruments in Houston. He was a full professor at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, University of Petroleum and Minerals in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, and Oklahoma City University in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was awarded Professor Emeritus in April 2009. In his career he taught over 12,000 students in 5 different countries. While at Oklahoma State he met and married Nermine Zuhdi. Together they had three children, Susie, Deena, and Adam. He adored his grandchildren Caden, Ryan, Dean, Annalise, and Elaina. He will always be remembered for his bright and loving smile, his devotion to his family, his love for teaching and research, his unwavering patience, his deep generosity, and his gentle kindness.
