Dr. Ali M. Eghtedari passed peacefully in his home in Carmel Valley, CA on 2/22/2017 at the age of 91. Dr. Eghtedari is survived by his wonderful wife of 62 years, Parvindokht Marvash Eghtedari, and his supportive daughter Afsaneh Cooper, and 3 lovely grandchildren.

The son of Etratmoluk Ghavami and Hossein Eghtedari, born in the beautiful city of Shiraz, Iran, Dr. Eghtedari rose to achieve his Graduate degree at UC Berkeley and Ph.D. at USC. He was a prominent author of several books on economics that are still in use today, as well as achieved the honor of being selected the Dean of the School of Economics and Public Administration at the University of Tehran. His students were among the elite intellectuals, government and military leaders of his time. With his passion for teaching and ethics, he maintained a pristine reputation of being an engaging and demanding teacher, no matter who the student was. As a representative for the Shah, he traveled the world as an ambassador of western economics.

Besides his love of playing a good game of poker with friends and family, he always enjoyed reading the Economist and keeping up with politics and world events. In his last years he spent a quiet life visiting Del Mar Park every day and connecting with those who came by to visit.

He was blessed to be able to enjoy time spent with his family, grandchildren (Leila Baboi, Dana Wilson, and Cameron Cooper), son-in-law (Michael Wilson), and others. He was content with his legacy and all who knew him came away with a sense of how helpful he was for those he cared about.
