Alice Ethel Metaxa died Saturday, March 28 at her daughter's home in Churchville. She was 89. She was born in Linesville, PA the daughter of the late Della and Charles Sparber. Mrs. Metaxa was retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground and was previously employed at Norfolk Army Base, VA and Camp Reynolds, PA. She enjoyed doing crafts, knitting and reading the encyclopedia. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Mohr of Churchville; four grandchildren, James and Bob Marshall and Cliff and Morgan Metaxa and her sister, Lola York of Courtland, OH. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Harry Metaxa; her sons, Robert (Bob) Metaxa and Constantinos (Dean) Metaxa and her siblings, John, Fred, Charles, George, Alfred and Henry Sparber, Martha Hanson, Jean Russell and Ruth Meleski. A graveside service conducted by Rev. Harold Hubble will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, April 1 at Harford Memorial Gardens.
