Alice Virginia Holliday Edmondson Settle of Midlothian, Texas, was born on August 14, 1943 in Dallas, Texas and danced into Heaven on May 23, 2017 at the age of 73. Alice attended South Oak Cliff High School and later attended El Centro College, where she received an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing and became a Registered Nurse, working as a Hospice Nurse. Alice had a special gift of empathy and compassion as she served both hospice patients and their families. She retired from nursing in 1994. Alice’s favorite pastimes were sewing, dancing, reading and spending time with her husband, Ted, on his boat. When physical limitations made those things impossible, watching movies on the Hallmark Channel became a favorite. She loved going to church at Community of Hope UMC and worshipping the Lord with her family. She is preceded in death by her parents Rush L. Holliday and Laura Virginia Holliday, and her first husband, Perry B. Edmondson. She is survived by her husband, Edward A. (Ted) Settle; her brothers and their wives, Kenneth and Kathy Holliday and Leland and Gina Holliday; her children Karen and Brian Martin, Lisa and Billy Pritchett, David and Karensa Edmondson; and her stepchildren Gary and Barbara Settle and Ronny and Brenda Settle. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren, and they are many: Preston, Wesley, Faith, Christian and Grace Martin; Jonathan, Anna, Leah and Luke Pritchett; Anthony and Krystalyn Edmondson; Samantha Osborn and Erika and Blaine Settle; and Cory and Cole Settle. A visitation and viewing will be held from 6-8 pm on May 25, 2017 at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Dallas, TX. A graveside service will take place at 1 pm on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Laurel Land and Cemetery in Dallas, TX, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 4 pm at Community of Hope United Methodist Church in Mansfield, TX. Memorial gifts may be made to Community of Hope UMC at 1800 E. Debbie Lane, Mansfield, TX 76063 or online at www.communityofhope.com.
