Mrs. Allene Johnson, 90, of Greensboro, went home to be with The Lord on Sunday, February 26, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel in Greensboro, NC. Burial will follow at Westminster Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Allene was born June 23, 1926, in Surry County to the late Jessie and Lela McHone and was a member of Brown Summit Baptist Church. She retired from Clapps Nursing Home at the age of 70 as a Nutritionist. Allene was well known as a great cook and years ago she used to make meals for Mark Martin's Racing Team that they would pick up and take to the races. She loved the simple things in life, like farming along side of her husband and taking trips with the Burnett's Chapel Senior Citizens Club. Allene was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Claude William Johnson; and a brother, Jack McHone. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Cynthia Johnson of Greensboro, Diane Luckado (Vernon) of Brown Summit, Deborah Gregory (Ernie) of Greensboro, and Sharon "Jo" Pope (Alan) of Raleigh; son, Steve Johnson (Barbara) of Hickory; sisters, Polly Johnson, Susan Hicks, and Opal Hawks; brothers, Billy Joe McHone, Buddy McHone, and Bobby McHone, all of Surry County; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and other extended family.
