Allyn Robert MacGill, 84, of Charlottesville, went to be with the Lord on March 18th, 2017.



Allyn was born on February 26th, 1933, in Patterson, NJ, to the late Robert and Edna MacGill. He attended Midland Park grade schools and graduated from Pompton Lakes HS. Allyn married his HS sweetheart Marilyn Klick in 1954. He loved and cherished her and said so often in his last weeks. Allyn was drafted by the Army and was stationed in Atlanta and Germany, After his honorable discharge, he worked at a variety of jobs before buying in to a dry cleaning business, Park Crest Cleaners. He took great pride in providing excellent customer service and treating his employees well. He was a wonderful, generous father of five daughters. He loved to take his family on vacation to a different place each summer to see and learn something new. Allyn loved to watch and play sports especially football. He participated in bowling leagues for years. In his retirement at Lake Monticello he became an avid golfer and UVa sports fan. He made many lasting friendships through these activities. His was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and so appreciated the love and support of his church family.



Allyn is survived by his wife, Marilyn MacGill; five daughters, Linda and husband David Blythe of Philadelphia PA, Lois and husband Ward Nial of So. Burlington, VT, Alison Eisenberger of Charlottesville, VA, Donna and husband John Douma of Troy, VA, and Nancy and husband Rev. Randy Buecheler of Lake Arrowhead, CA. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren . all of whom he was very proud: Christopher and Matthew Nial, Jonathan Eisenberger, Lynelle, Kelly, John Allyn, and Nicole Douma and Rachel, Abigail, Anna and Emily Buecheler.



A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 25th, 2017, at 2:00 pm, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Charlottesville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A graveside committal will follow at Monticello Memory Gardens



The family wishes to thank the staff at The Laurels for their compassionate care of Allyn in his final weeks.



In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlottesville/Albemarle Rescue Squad or Hospice of the Piedmont.
