On March 16, 2017 at 8:15 a.m., Alma passed away. She was born May 8, 1924 to Arie and Gemma P. Gerritsen, who both predeceased her. Alma was an extremely kind and generous person, whose joie de vivre vitality and sense of humor brought pleasure to all who knew her. Above all else, Alma was devoted to her family and beloved by them all. She is survived by her children: Carol Aucoin Hernandez (Jim), Gemma Aucoin Heaslip (Rob), Albert J. Aucoin, Jr. (Darnel), Edward S. Aucoin (Audrey) and Adele Aucoin Trepagnier (George). She was preceded in death by her son Christopher J. Aucoin, her first husband Albert J. Aucoin, Sr. and her second husband, Denis R. Aucoin, Jr. (Heavy). She is survived by her special sister-in-law Carol M. Aucoin. All residents of New Orleans, LA. She leaves behind her stepchildren: Danny Aucoin, the late Denis R. Aucoin III (Emelia) and Renee A. Credeur, her grandchildren: Chris J. Hernandez (Nancy), Jean H. Dimarco (Joseph), Beth H. Varges (Eric), Karin H. Rohr (Thor), Debbie Hernandez, Amy H. Constant (Nick), Greg Heaslip, James Heaslip, Albert J. Aucoin III, Brandon B. Aucoin (Missy), Stacy T. Thomas and Paul Trepagnier (Jennifer), her step grandchildren: Kathryn Boudoin (Willis), Daniel Credeur (Ariel), Dwayne Aucoin (Susan) and Nicole Aucoin, her great grandchildren: Lillian and Mercedes Hernandez, Joseph and Harris Dimarco, Matthew, Alex and Noel Vargas, Samantha, Russell, and Kimberly Rohr, Paul and Zoe Hernandez, Evelyn and James Constant, Emma Heaslip, Ella, Lawson, Trep, Isabel, Oliver and William Thomas, Taylor, Michael, Justin and Ryan Trepagnier, her step great grandchildren: Scarlett Boudoin, Cypress Credeur, Emily, Henry and Benjamin Aucoin, her great great grandchild Dean Dimarco, and host of nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her friend Richard C. Berger, Jr. Very special thanks to her sitters Aliki, Barbara, Ashley and Lordes. Alma was affectionately known as the “Snowball Lady” at St. Frances Cabrini playground. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service at in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
