BENNATI, Alvin Anthony SR.

Father, life partner, Papa, brother, Uncle and friend to many AKA; Dad, Father, Ben, Benji, Mr. Ben, Mr. B, Uncle Ben and Uncle Alvin left us Thursday January 19th due to fatal injuries sustained in an auto accident in Tampa. He was surrounded by his loving family when he transitioned to the other side where we feel certain he was greeted by all those that pre-deceased him including and most importantly his life partner Mary Alice Blevins, who also perished in this accident a few hours earlier. His parents Benedetto and Mary Bennati, his sisters Ida and Louise, his loving wife Marge, his son Grant and his best friend Philip who passed away just last week were all sure to be a part of his welcoming committee. There are so many more loved ones that have passed, we could not possibly mention them all. Ben and Mary Alice were fortunate enough to have found each other almost 6 years ago and in her he found a life partner full of spunk and full of love for him. Mary Alice Blevins brought love and laughter to his life in a way that only she could. This family is forever grateful for the love and energy she infused in all of us. She will be missed beyond our ability to communicate. Ben was born in Shelton Connecticut on June 14, 1930 and married Marge on November 15, 1958. Ben and Marge had 3 children; Grant and Al JR and Liane who survive him with his 5 beautiful grandchildren. Trey, Trevor, Jake, Grant and Gabriella along with Al’s wife Susie and Liane’s wife Teri, who are all heartbroken at the thought of losing him. His Grandchildren and daughter in laws were such a joy to both of them. His only surviving first family member is his older 92 year old sister Gloria who cannot imagine life without her little brother. She told him regularly that she was to “go” first. She has always been extremely coveted in this family, but now as the only elder generation left, she has even more love to bear. He has so many other loving family members who are devastated as well like Debbie who thought of her “Benji” as a father, Susan and her son Christopher, Katherine, Shawn, Jimmy, Kim, Keith, Tina, Kaye and Lyn, along with Mary Alices’ family who became ours; her brother Dr. Ben Willwerth, her sons, Abner and his wife Reyna, Paul and all of their beautiful children; Kenny, Benjamin, Emily, Abner, Grace, Nathan, John, Jon and Jeremy who all were impacted by this gentle, kind man. Ben and Marge were quite a team that owned several successful businesses over their nearly 51 years of marriage. Ben’s business accomplishments were many but he was best known as a man that impacted so many friends and employees in positive ways … we would love to hear some of those stories if you would please post them on line on the Blount and Curry website. Some of these will be shared at his Eulogy on Thursday night between 6 and 7pm. Their last business venture was Buy Owner where for nearly 20 years the family worked together.

Visitation will take place from 5-8pm on Thursday January 26th at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 605 S. MacDill Ave., in Tampa, 33609. There will also be a Catholic mass Friday morning at 11am at Christ the King Church followed by his interment in the Bennati Mausoleum located at Myrtle Hill Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made in Ben’s name to a charity of your choice.
