Sr. Ann Murtagh, OSF, born Oct. 13, 1928, in Manhattan, passed away on Dec. 6, 2017.
She was the twin sister of Sr. Mary Murtagh, OSF, who died on Jan. 11th of this year.
Sr. Ann earned her bachelor's and a master's degree in education from Fordham University, Manhattan
At the age of 20, Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities. Sr. Ann entered the congregation on Jan. 6, 1950, and was received into the community on July 14, 1950. She professed her first vows on July 14, 1952, and professed Final Vows on July 14, 1955.
For the past 20 years, Sr. Ann volunteered at Clove Lakes Health in the pastoral department, along with her sister, Mary, who was director of pastoral services.
Prior to Clove Lakes, Sister served God in various locations and capacities throughout her religious life. Sister was a devoted teacher, supervisor of child care, parish minister and volunteer.
Sr. Ann supervised special needs adults at Community Resources for Developmentally Disabled as client coordinator on Staten Island from 1994 to 1996. She taught at St. Clare's Academy from 1951 to 1952, St. Catherine in Pelham, N.Y., from 1952 to 1960, St. Eugene's in Yonkers, N.Y., from 1960 to 1970, Immaculate Conception in Tuckahoe, N.Y., from 1970 to 1972, and in schools in Harrisburg, Pa., and South Amboy, N.J.

Sister Ann had a spirit of dedication to the communities she served. Her ministry most recently involved volunteering for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of all the residents of Clove Lakes. She prided herself in knowing everyone's name, room, and which Eucharistic minister they preferred to visit with them.
She is survived by the Sisters of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities; her sister-in-law, Mildred Murtagh, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, Dec. 10, from 3 to 7 p.m., in Casey Funeral Home, 350 Slosson Ave., Castleton Corners. The Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated on Monday, Dec. 11, at 10:45 a.m., in St. Teresa's Church. Interment will follow in the Cemetery of the Immaculate Virgin on the Grounds of Mt. Loretto.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
