Mrs. Anna Lee Allred McDonald, 95, died in her Greensboro home of 74 years on January 10, 2016.
Anna Lee is survived by her husband of 75 years, D.L. McDonald, Jr.; and her children, Gary (Ellen) McDonald, Tina McDonald Farabee and Michael (Denise) McDonald and daughter-in-law, Carolyn McDonald Beam. She was preceded in death by a son, Daniel McDonald, III. She was Granny Mac to her grandchildren, Jeff McDonald, Lisa McDonald Dunlap, Lori McDonald Mathes, Stephen Farabee, Jeremy McDonald, and Casie McDonald Mapes and 11 great-grandchildren.
Anna Lee was born to Neal and Alice Allred on February 28, 1920 in Randleman, N.C. She was one of 12 children. Surviving sisters are Helena Allred Coltrane and Peggy Allred Chamblee. After marrying D. L. she was a devoted homemaker and mother. Anna Lee began working at Wesley Long Hospital labor and delivery department as a nurse's aide in 1965, retiring after her last grandchild was born there in 1981.
She was a member of Centre Friends Meeting in Greensboro since marrying D.L., serving in the nursery. There was always a twinkle in her eye and a smile on her face when she was around children.
There will be a private graveside service for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Centre Friends Meeting, 325 NC 62 East, Greensboro, NC 27406.
