81, of Tampa passed away peacefully at home on November 11, 2017. She was a woman of extraordinary compassion for all people. Through her living example, she exemplified the importance of faith, love and family. Her humanity, humor and zest for life inspired all to the very end. We will carry her vivacious spirit in our hearts always. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Geuther. During their 50-year marriage, they loved and enjoyed extensive travel with family and friends.

Born a twin in Jamestown, New York, she was raised in Columbus Ohio and attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. After graduation, she became a teacher in Orland Park Illinois, where upon meeting the son of her supervisor (Russell Geuther), her life changed forever. Ann and Russ married in 1958 and by 1965 their family was complete with one lovely daughter and 3 sons. In 1969, the family moved from the Chicago area to Bay Village, Ohio – a suburb west of Cleveland. They lived in the same house for 20 years and raised their family. Ann played tennis a couple times a week and was very active with the Fairview Hospital Auxiliary Board, serving as the Flower Shop Chairman and eventually as President of the Board. She was involved in several special interest groups; including Investment Club, gourmet group and Church circle at Bay Presbyterian Church, where all 4 of her children were married. Through these groups, neighbors and kids’ activities, Ann met many dear and lifelong friends. Mom was proud to have all 4 kids (plus 2 spouses) attend and graduate from Miami University. And, all 4 kids got married within 5 years.

She is survived by her loving children and their families: daughter, Sherry Sample and her husband John Sample of Tampa, Florida, sons, Jeff Geuther and his wife Marji, of Houston, Texas, Jim Geuther and his wife Laura, of Bay Village, Ohio and Steve Geuther and his wife Ellen, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

Ann was adored by her 13 grandchildren: Preston Sample and his wife Rachel, Lauren Sample Warneke, and her husband Steven Warneke, Robert Sample and his wife Katrina and Carson Sample – all of Tampa, Florida, Meagan Geuther of San Diego, California, Steven Geuther and his wife Katie and Shannon Geuther of Houston Texas, Danny Geuther and his wife Nora of Rocky River, Ohio, Kate Geuther Tate and her husband Patrick Tate of Carmel, Indiana, and Scotty Geuther of Cleveland, Ohio, Natalie Geuther of New York City, Marisa Geuther and Grace Geuther of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

Welcoming 6 great grandchildren into the world gave Ann immense joy: Chase & Carter Sample of Tampa, Florida, Ella & Abbey Geuther of Rocky River, Ohio, and Grayson & Macey Tate of Carmel, Indiana.

Ann is also survived by her sisters-in-law Barbara Woods of Sarasota, Florida, Louise Lopina of San Clemente, California and Glenna Lopina of Cincinnati, Ohio as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends of whom she treasured.

In 1991 Ann & Russ moved to Tampa, Florida and began another chapter in their exciting lives. While in Tampa, Ann was involved in her PEO group, multiple Church groups at Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church, The American Cancer Society and Sword of Hope.

Ann considered herself so fortunate to have met and shared life with an amazing group of dear friends while in Tampa. She enjoyed the Arts (Broadway shows & Orchestra), entertaining and most of all, being part of the lives of those of whom she touched – both family and friends. She loved and was beloved.

A memorial service will take place at Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church on Saturday, December 2nd, at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the Church following the service.

In lieu of flowers, and in accordance with Ann’s wishes, please consider a donation in memory of Ann to Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church, Life Path Hospice or a charity of your choice
