Anna was born on October 27, 1919 and passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017.

Anna was a resident of Pilot Mountain, North Carolina at the time of passing.

Having skipped one grade and attending public school when there were only 11 grades, Anna left home at 16 to attend Appalachian State Teachers College (now Appalachian State University), returning to work in tobacco on the family farm during summers to help pay her college expenses.

After teaching in Westfield during the time Tyree was stationed overseas in the U. S. Army, the couple moved to Angier, in Harnett County, where Tyree had grown up and where they lived for seven years and where her brother- and sister-in-law Bob and Jane Broadwell still live. Hoping to buy a farm half way between their respective home places and birth families, Anna and Tyree found a farm in Guilford County which seemed ideal.

A Memorial Service for Anna will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, September 15, 2017, at Bethel Presbyterian Church, McLeansville, where she was a member these last few years and where family will receive guests following the service. A family graveside committal service will take place at Westfield Friends Meeting Cemetery in Pilot Mountain the following afternoon. Howell-Nelson Funeral Service of Pilot Mountain is serving the family.
