Anne Luigi Rossi, 77, of Houston, Texas, passed away suddenly at home on June 22, 2017. She was born on August 16, 1939 in Houston, Texas to Eugene and Wilma Luigi. Anne founded a successful communications firm, which sold one of the first cellular phones ever in Houston, a business ultimately sold to Sprint. She then began a second career in law enforcement, subsequently becoming a Homicide Detective with the Harris County Sheriff's Department, partnering with her husband for over a decade after graduating from the Academy with exceptional performance, attending many months of night courses to obtain a Certified Peace Officer's Commission. Her most treasured life accomplishments were being a loving mother and wife, and raising successful children through a constant presence, supporting their endeavors throughout their lives. Her hobbies included genealogy, slot machines, world travel, participation with the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and membership in the Houston Faith Church. Surviving in addition to her husband, Anthony, are her son Lee Holder and daughter Cindy Holder, extended family members Debra Collar and Jim Crary, sisters Julie Vandermark and Donna Hudec, all from Houston, Texas, numerous nieces and nephews, and her faithful dog Comet. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Newman, brother, Don Luigi, and brother-in-law, Edward Rossi. A special thanks to Cecil and Louise Holder, niece Sherrie (and Kevin) Linder, JJ and Pat Freeze, Linda Lods and mother Dorothy Barr, Brenda and Mark Miller, and Elena Ruiz for their unconditional love and support. Pallbearers include Jim Crary, JJ Freeze, Kevin Linder, Mark Miller, Joey Navarro, Eddie Rossi, Kevin Smith, and Art Woolery.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, June 27th from 5-8 p.m. at Heights Funeral Home, 1317 Heights Blvd., Houston. The funeral service for Anne Rossi will be held on Wednesday, June 28th at 11:00 a.m. in the Heights Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chas Stevenson officiating. The interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, with a reception following.
