Anthony (Tony) Wayne Pontiff, 51, of New Orleans, LA, passed away unexpectedly on August 23, 2017.

Tony was born in Topeka Kansas October 4, 1965. He graduated from Miami High School, Class of 1983, in Miami, Arizona. He joined the United States Air force in September of the same year. While stationed in England he met and married Donna Eileen (Wilson) Pontiff in November 1988 and had three beautiful daughters.

After 10 years of honorable service in the Air Force, Tony served with the Laramie Police Department in Laramie Wyoming. He then moved to the NOPD in 1997 where he remained until his passing. Tony was a wonderful father, dedicated family man and law enforcement officer. He had a passion for fishing, cooking, and spending time with friends and family. He had a special sense of humor that touched many and can never be replicated.

Tony was preceded in death by his stepfather, Donald Barbee.

Tony is survived by his father, Gary John (Alice) Pontiff of DeRidder, LA; mother, Carolyn 'Joy' Barbee of Pearl River, LA; mother of children, Donna Pontiff of Kenner, LA; daughters, Mandy (Ross) Collard of Welwyn Garden City, UK; Dawn (Joshua) Pontiff of Kenner, LA; Errin Pontiff of Hammond, LA; brothers, James (Bobbie) Pontiff of Luther, OK; Matthew Pontiff of DeRidder, LA; and step-brother Ronnie (Fran) Barbee of Winkleman, LA; sisters Tamara Kostos of Slidell, LA and Lydia Pontiff of Region SK, Canada; grandchildren Hollie-Jane Collard, Brayden Collard, and Emelia Collard of Welwyn Garden City, UK, and Joshua 'Gabe' Harris of Kenner, LA; Nephew Eric Pontiff of Luther, OK; and nieces Jessica Lee of Charleston, SC and Megan Lee of Slidell, LA.

Tony is also survived by his extended families - his pier friends of Orleans Marina and all of his brothers and sisters in blue whom he loved so well.

Funeral Services will be held to honor Tony at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 5PM. A visitation will begin at 2PM until service time. To view and sign the family guestbook, please visit
