Aphrodite "Dee" Hondrokostas, 91, of Nashua, passed away on May 11, 2016 at St. Joseph Hospital. She was born in Nashua, NH on February 11, 1925, daughter of the late James and Magdaline (Nagios) Hondrokostas.

Aphrodite likes to be called "Dee" and she was a wonderful, sweet and lovely lady. She would light up peoples' days and keep smiles on their faces. She was supported by the Nashua Center in a community residence, she had two roommates there and she enjoyed their company. Dee would greet people as they entered her home, she would welcome them with a warm hug, a kiss, and would say "I love you" and finish with compliments about their clothing. She could always make someone feel special and confident. She was a people person and made lots of friends, both inside and outside the Nashua Center.

Dee was an elegant woman, she loved to dress up, and her colors were always coordinated. She loved to wear her powder and perfume and put a barrette in her hair, and if you forgot about her beads she would pat her chest and remind you, and you had to make sure they matched her outfit. Dee knew what she wanted and she made sure she got it; she was a very determined lady.

Dee was not the type of person who liked to be home all day. From the moment she woke up she would ask who was coming in today, and then ask if she was going out today. The weather didn't stop Dee from going out in the community.

Dee would frequent many places, such as the dollar store at least three days a week, everyone knew her there, and she would come home with coloring books, knick knacks, flowers, seasonal decorations, picture frames, candy and a special card for her brother Nick. She liked to go to the Senior Center for lunch and visit their library for some books. She would also visit the Senior Center store where she would get some of her beads. She also enjoyed events there like holiday lunches and picnics.

She went to so many places like the art museum, the zoo, stores, out for lunch with her friend Nancy, post office to mail gifts and cards to her brother.

Dee is survived by her brother Nick Harris and his wife Joan of NY, nephew, James Harris of Kingston, NY, nieces Lynne Harris of Red Hook, NY, and Laurie Harris of Lake Katrine, NY.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 from 6:00PM-8:00PM at the Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley St. Nashua. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 1:00PM at Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashua.
