Apolonia "Pola" Vargas, 85, of Lockport, NY, formerly of Medina, was called home on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at the Medina Memorial Hospital, after a short illness.
Born in Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Etanislao and Juanita (Santiago) Sepulveda.
Apolonia came to Medina in 1957, she was employed with various companies including, Birdseye, R.J. Reynolds and lastly she retired from Fisher-Price. She was a member of St. John's Roman Catholic Church in Lockport. Apolonia was a dedicated homemaker who enjoyed sewing, crocheting and gardening. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.
She is predeceased by her husband, Jose "Cheo" Vargas, who died on November 28, 2010.
Apolonia is survived by her three children, Pedro J. (Betty) Vargas of Medina; Carlos (Ferita) Vargas of Rochester; and Rosa M. (John) MacDonald of Lockport; grandchildren, Peter II, Nicole, Joshua, Carlo Jr., Marta, Jose, Pablo, Myrdna, Carmen and John Robert. Also, numerous, step-grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren, a brother, Francisco (Tita) Roman of Chicago, IL; two sisters, Victoria (Roburto) Rodriguez of Medina and Georgina Roman of Puerto Rico and numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call on Friday, September 12, 2014, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the Bates & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St. Medina, NY 14103. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Holy Trinity\ St. Mary's Church with the Pastor, Rev. Daniel J. Fawls celebrating. Burial will be in Puerto Rico.
