Arleen Newman Browning
Arleen Newman Browning was born on a farm close to Wayne, Kansas on March 7, 1925 to Ivel (Ike) Newman and Amelia (Boots) Denk. She passed away on Friday March 2nd, 2018 at 8:25 pm in Overland Park, Kansas. Arleen grew up in Republic County, Kansas, and moved to Salina Kansas after graduating from Agenda High School. It was in Salina that she met her future husband, Lt. John W. Browning. They were married in 1946.

Arleen was a Silver Life Master bridge player, a gardener, a bowler and a golfer. She was also a devoted Air Force Wife and a mother to three. She was often both mom and dad to her children as John was a career military man and served his country overseas during both WWll and the Korean War. They retired from Schilling AFB to Salina in 1966. She retired from the US Geological Survey where she worked as a Cartographer for 20 years.

Arleen was preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister (Aileen Maye) and her husband. She is survived by her two daughters and her son: Audrey (David) King, Worthington, OH; Anne Browning (Richard Benson), Buffalo, MN.; and John N. (Nancy) Browning, Olathe, KS. She had eight grandchildren, Melanie (Gregory) Ortega, Joshua King, Kerry Gautsch, Raelene (Nathan) Schroedl, Amber (Timothy) Wentz, Jonathan (Tricia) Browning, Megan (Eric) Booze and Amanda Browning-Salva (John Salva), and eleven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 12:30pm, Saturday, March 10, 2018, one hour prior to the start of the 1:30pm funeral service at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, 1920 East Crawford, Salina. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park located at 1920 East Crawford, Salina, Ks.
