Passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017 surrounded by his family.Born April 22, 1929 to Jerry and Isabel (Hermance) Beranek in Raymond, Nebraska. He graduated from Raymond High School in 1947. Arvid was drafted and served in the U.S. Army as Corporal during the Korean War from February 1952 to January 1954. He married Minerva Roebke on October 31, 1958, they had 2 children, Denise and Larry. He worked for CB&Q/Burlington Route/Burlington Northern as a Carman for 44 years. In October 2013 Arvid went on the Korean War Honor Flight to Washington D.C. His children were honored to escort him on this tour. Arvid was a member of VFW Post 3606, American Legion of Ceresco, Burlington Veterans, Burlington Campers, Burlington Northern Cornhusker Club and George Washington Lodge 250 (past member).



Arvid is survived by his wife Minerva of 58 years, daughter and son-in-law Denise and Steve Dolezal of Raymond, son and daughter-in-law Larry and Angie Beranek of Lincoln, grandchildren Savannah and Tyler Groskurth of Lincoln, Nakita Dolezal of Raymond, Brandon Beranek of Lincoln and great-grandson Daegan Charles Groskurth, in-laws, Shirley Beranek of Raymond, Garfield and Evelyn Roebke of Seward, Lyle and Lorraine Pershing of Maquoketa, Iowa, Geraldine Spath of Lincoln, Wayne Roebke of Crete, Vivian Lindner of Lincoln and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.



Preceded in death by parents, brothers, William (Bill) Beranek, Harold (Pete) Beranek, John (Jack) Beranek, brother-in-laws Gayle Spath, Jerry Lindner, sister-in-laws Reba Beranek and Loretta Roebke.



Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home.



Services will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home.



Interment will be in Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery.



In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to Raymond Fire & Rescue or Make A Wish Foundation.
