Asuncion “Connie” Maciel, age 87, of Roeland Park, KS passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. The Rosary and visitation will be 9:30 am -10:30 am on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 5250 Mission Road, Roeland Park, KS 66205. The Mass of Christian burial will begin immediately at 10:30 am. Burial will be at 2:30 pm at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Agnes Catholic Church.





Connie was born on August 15, 1927 to Joseph and Lupe Cornejo. She grew up in Armourdale. She and her sisters and brothers took care of each other after their mother passed away, while their father provided for the family. Connie met her future husband, Joe Maciel Jr. at a dance with some friends. They were married on September 5, 1946 and celebrated 67 years of marriage. Many memories were shared with family and friends in the Maciel home over the years.





She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lupe Cornejo; brothers, Joe and Louie; sisters, Molly and Jennie; and her husband, Joe Maciel Jr. Survivors include her four children, Carol, JoLinda, Joe III (Angie), and Lisa Maciel. Nine grandchildren include J.D. (Anne), Joy, Natalie, Emily, Nicholas, Anthony, Jada and Lily. One great granddaughter, Charlotte. Two sisters, Eva Ochoa and Lupe Albizo. As well as her beloved dog, “Baby”.
