Mrs. Audrey Jean Ollenbittle Stowers, 78, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Angels for the Elderly in Montgomery, AL. She was born on December 10, 1939 in North Tonawanda, NY, daughter of the late William Federick Ollenbittle and the late Ila Ruth Tyron Ollenbittle.

Mom enjoyed a full life filled with many interests. As an Air Force wife she lived in many places but always had wonderful friendships. All will agree that her greatest ability was loving and serving others. This gave her much joy and the family is so grateful for this legacy.

The true loves of Mom's life were her family. She is survived by her husband of 59 years Richard Ward Stowers of Montgomery AL, son Richard "Rick" Ward Stowers, Jr. (Melanie) of Tallahassee FL, son Bruce Alan Stowers (Cheryl) of Birmingham AL, and daughter Tracee Ann Stowers Tilley (Dwayne) of Montgomery AL.

Mawmaw, Mawmo, and Grandma to grandchildren Christian, Lauren, Ashlee, Bradley, Caitlyn, Luke, Dawson, and Rivers. Mawmaw to great-grandson Trace.

She is also survived by her sister Patricia Peterson (Bill) of Martindale TX, and brother David Ollenbittle (Linda) of Godfrey IL. She was preceded in death by her brother Jim Hamilton.

She is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews and many loving friends. She was a blessed lady.

Mom came to know Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior while attending Highland Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, AL. It was there she and her husband were baptized together and her life was forever changed. She was firm in her beliefs, knowing she would be in Heaven when she left this life. We are at peace knowing you are with God. Mom we all love and adore you, and we will miss you every day until we see you again.

Thank you to all who have lifted endless prayers, visited, sent cards and who were our friends during this time. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Administration and loving staff of Angels For The Elderly, special friends in House #2 and to Dr. Donald Marshall for their unending support, friendship, and love. This gratitude is also extended to original founder Mrs. Susan Durden and to all who supported her vision. Her love for the elderly was a true mission. It is at Angels we are always reminded of the great lesson taught in Leviticus 19:32, "Rise in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God. I am the Lord."

Funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Leak Memory Chapel located at 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., service will follow at 12:00 p.m. with entombment immediately afterwards at Azalea Mausoleum. Dear friend Pastor Billy Duncan will be officiating.
