Barbara Jones was born Barbara Ann Harris to Lonnie and Lois Harris in Evansville, IN on August 9, 1938. After graduation from Bosse High School in 1956, she worked at Bucyrus-Erie until marrying Robert Jones, her high school sweetheart in 1961. They were married for fifty-six years. After graduation from the Ohio State University, Bob was commissioned as Ensign in the United States Navy and ordered to flight training in Pensacola. That began her life as a Navy wife with all of its moving around, kids changing schools, long deployments and all the challenges that go with it. Barbara was always concerned for the well-being of her Navy family and worked to help those in need. She started her business career by selling Mary Kay products in San Diego and continued by earining her real estate license in Virginia Beach, VA. Upon moving back to Pensacola in 1982, she continued her work in real estate, joining Barbara Odom of Odom Realty and worked there for nearly twenty years. During that time, Barbara served as President of the Navy All-Wives Club and led art auctions and other charitable events to benefit her Navy family.
Barbara was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Pensacola.
Her brother, Lloyd Harris and two of her children, Angela Marie and Mitchell Robert preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Bob; daughter, Leta Sue Witcher; granddaughter, Nicole Witcher; great granddaughter, Arabella Marie; grandson, Eric Mitchell and daughter-in-law, Marci Jones.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church of Pensacola. The family will receive friends following the service in the Jane C. Noonan Center.
