Barbara was born an only child to Carl Olaf and Emma Anderson in Seattle, Washington. She passed away Sunday evening, December 17, 2017 in Medford Oregon, although she continued to maintain a home in Washington.

She will be returning to her home town of Seattle for a family burial next to her beloved husband Alfred G. Larson. Barbara is survived by her three children Kristina Larson (Richard Gemmell), Jon Larson and Jeff Larson who reside in Washington and Oregon.

Barbara (known as Andy to some) will most be remembered for her beautiful smile, which also captured the eye of her husband while attending the University of Washington. After earning degrees in sociology and early childhood development and education she moved with her husband to live in Oregon.

Along with her husband she was a supporter of progressive democratic and pro-choice ideals and civic responsibility as seen through their life-long community volunteerism, philanthropic efforts and multicultural interests. Barbara's interests were broad as were her many activities and travels. She was a lifelong member of the UW Alumni, Phi Mu Sorority, Delta Kappa Gama, AAUW, PEO, Uniteers, Swedish Club, Nordic Heritage Society, and the Nature Conservancy. Further, both her Larson and Anderson families have funded ongoing scholarship programs for young women showing strong civic service and science backgrounds who are pursuing university levels of education.
