LINDSEY, Barbara age 76 of Beavercreek passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2017. She was born on May 5, 1940 in Wellington, Ohio to the late Franklyn and Dorothy Waite Wright. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Archie Leon and Ella Myrtle (Jordon) Waite, Howard Greenleaf and Edna Sylvia (Coats) Wright. Barbara is survived by her husband, Robert L. Lindsey; sons, Craig A (Denese) Lindsey of Dover, Delaware, and Scott (Brenda) Lindsey of Fairborn, Ohio; daughters, Bonnie (George) Hogge of Wake Forrest, North Carolina, and Debra Halfpap of Fairborn, Ohio; step-daughter, Jeanne (Dale) Harris of Elyria, Ohio; grandchildren, Renee, Mandy, and Hannah Lindsey, George Hogge V, Lindsey Hogge, Kayla, and Sarah Halfpap, Cassie (Brandon) Etter, and Matthew (Lauren) Lindsey; step-grandchildren, David Harris, Derrick Dryer and James Terrell; three brothers, Howard Wright of Tennessee, Maynard Wright of Wellington, Ohio, and Ralph Wright of Wellington, Ohio. She graduated from Wellington High School in Wellington, Ohio in 1958. Barbara and Robert were married on April 6, 1963 in Wellington. After marriage the family traveled to and was stationed in several Countries and States including Guam, Mississippi, Massachusetts, Ohio, Louisiana, Germany, and Colorado. She was a veteran scouter for 25 years with Boy Scouts of America holding many positions in American Scout activities around the world while Robert served in the USAF. She attended International Train the Trainer Wood Badge at Gilwell Park in England and was Scout and Cub Wood Badge trained. Barbara received many awards, including the Silver Beaver, the highest a local council can award. She served as Girl Scout leader for many years including a troop trip to the Girl Scout Chalet in Switzerland. She was active in the Ohio Genealogical Society and local genealogical groups, holding many offices including state trustee, and instructed genealogy classes at state and local levels. She was active in community affairs for many years, including serving as President and chairman of different groups and receiving awards from the USAF and local Authorities. Barbara was employed for 15 years in the Greene County Archives as an Administrative Support Assistant, retiring in 2012. Her deepest values were: love of family, treating others as she would want to be treated, being truthful, and respecting other people's feelings. There will be no visitation or service at this time. Her cremains with be held, with reverence, by her husband, until he passes. Then there will be a dual commitment service at the Dayton National Cemetery for Veterans and their spouses in Dayton, Ohio.
