Barbara Jean (BJ) Lively Spangler, 55, of Cross Lanes, passed away Friday, Sept. 9th, 2016 after a long, hard fought battle with ovarian cancer, to go to the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was surrounded by her family, while holding hands with her soul mate, best friend and the love of her life, her husband Jerry.

BJ was born January 11th, 1961 to Leonard Ray Lively and Deloris Jean Odell Lively. She was a graduate of Charleston High School, class of 1978, where she played basketball. Her basketball skills lead to several scholarship offers.

She began her career with C&P Telephone in 1979. Her career spanned through the changes to Bell Atlantic, then Verizon, from which she retired in 2010. After a year of retirement and traveling extensively with Jerry, she began her second career with Focus One Medical Billing Center, where she became fast friends with the owner and the employees. BJ’s personality allowed her to gain friends wherever she worked and socialized.

BJ was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church of Sissonville. She loved spending worship and fellowship time with her church family.

BJ was predeceased by her parents and sister, Susan Robinson. She leaves behind to mourn her passing, her loving husband of 19 years, Jerry, during which time they enjoyed entertaining and having great pool parties for their friends and family.
