CHAPIN - Mr. Berkeley “Buck” Harrell Liles died peacefully in his home on Thursday, June 1, 2017, in Chapin, South Carolina at the age of 78.

Buck is survived by his wife, Emily; children, Blake(Lori) of Columbia, S.C. and Brandon(Meg) of Chapin, S.C.; his grandchildren, Cameron Berkeley and Sophie Catherine Liles of Chapin, S.C.; his nephews by blood but brothers by heart, Tom(Sherry) Liles of Columbia, S.C. and Edwin(Joy) Lewis of Maryland; along with his nephew, James, and nieces, Kacey and Savannah. He was preceded in death by his brother, Sonny Liles of Columbia, S.C.

Buck was born on December 26, 1938, in Columbia, S.C. to Hamilton and Susan Alexander Liles. He graduated from Dreher High School and served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy. He married Emily, his high school sweetheart, in 1963.

Buck was a family-oriented man who was always available to lend a helping hand. He loved spending time with his grandkids, nieces and nephews. He loved animals and seemed to attract dogs and cats that needed a home. He could be found Friday nights in the stands at Chapin High School watching his grandson play football and his granddaughter cheer for the team. Buck had a passion for cars and motorcycles. An avid motorcyclist, he passed on his enthusiasm for riding to many people over the years. Buck was a devoted husband, loving “Paw Paw” and loyal friend who was universally loved by all who knew him.

A funeral is scheduled for 1:00 pm Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, with entombment to follow in Elmwood Cemetery. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Buck’s life. The family will receive friends from 12 until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Reece Holbrook Win Anyway Foundation at 709 Woodrow Street PMB, 102, Columbia, S.C. 29205.

The family would like to thank family, friends and caregivers for all the cards, food, prayers, love and support.
