Bernadette (Bonnie) Lappan, of Phoenix, Arizona went to sleep in the arms of Jesus on Wednesday January 17th 2018, when she lost her battle with cancer. She was born in Rochester, NY on June 21, 1936. She attended Nazareth Academy in Rochester, NY and graduated in 1954. Bonnie went on to attend The Rochester Institute of Technology, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Food Management. She then worked as a Dining Hall Manager at Penn State for 10 years. After leaving Penn State, Bonnie worked in the test kitchens of the H.J. Heinz Company, where she used her culinary creativity to help make recipes for a new line of frozen pizzas. One of her favorite jobs was with a market research company, that she obtained after she moved to Phoenix in 1978 to be near her family. She enjoyed being able to get out and learn her new city while meeting interesting people - all in the name of market research. After she left market research she worked as a Supervisor at Target until she retired.

Even though she was retired, it did not slow her down. Bonnie was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church for many years, where she was active in Harvest House, St. Vincent de Paul, and the El Mirage Christmas drive. Bonnie also enjoyed helping to feed the homeless at the Chris Becker Dining Hall and was a volunteer at Hospice of the Valley.

Bonnie will always be remembered for her love of her Lord, her commitment to her local community, her strong support of Hospice of the Valley, along with her willingness to help those in need. She was deeply devoted to her family, and enjoyed spending her free time with her close group of cherished friends. She enjoyed collecting Hershey Christmas ornaments as chocolate was her one true weakness. She also loved the color purple!

Bonnie was preceded in death by her father, Charles W. Lappan, her mother, Alice W. Lappan and her sister, Carol L. Craig.

She is survived by her niece, Ruth Mason, her nephew, Charles Craig, her niece-in-law, Deborah Santone, her nephew-in-law Brian Mason, her grand nephews, Robert Neff, Adam Mason and Charles Craig II, grand nieces, Brianne Carlson, Deborah Mason, Stefanie Craig, great-grand nephews, Rayden Neff, Zachary Neff, Benjamin Costa and Leo Costa, and great-grand nieces, Lily North, Riley Carlson, and Cameron Carlson.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Hospice of the Valley.
