BERNARD 'BERNIE' DONALD TOFTE SR. June 13, 1926 ~ March 24, 2015 Bernard Tofte, 88, of Vancouver, Washington, passed away March 24, 2015. He was born in Wallace, South Dakota to Abraham and Gena Tofte. After attending school in Wallace, he served in the Army in Germany during World War II. Bernie was a Supervisor at Alcoa Aluminum Company, and retired from there. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, clamming at the beach, woodworking and gardening. He had a generous heart, always giving whatever was needed. He also volunteered at St. Vincent dePaul. Bernie is survived by his wife, Margie (Herr) Tofte; children, Bernard Jr. and Katherine Tofte, LeRoy Tofte, Tammy and Tim Thomas, and Rozella Blunk; nine grandkids and 15 great-grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, three brothers; and son-in-law. A funeral service will be held Wednesday April 1, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Rosary starts at 10:30 a.m. Visitation March 31, 2015 from 12:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
