Bernice Meyer, 92 of Higginsville, Missouri died on Friday, September 15, 2017, at her home.

Born Tuesday, October 7, 1924 in Booneville, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late George Gilmore and the late Myrtle White Gilmore.

She graduated from Sweet Springs High School in 1942. She married Roy A. Meyer on October 20, 1945. They moved to Higginsville in 1954. Bernice held numerous jobs through her life, starting with the International Shoe Factory, child care, Smitty's Drive-In, Page's Drug,Thomson Drugs, McDonald's and Curves. During her teenage years she played the piano and organ for her church. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed country dancing, music, Jim Beam and having fun. At the age of 65 she won a wet t-shirt contest, she loved going to casinos and reading books.

Surviving are one son, Jim (Karen) Meyer of Missoula, MT, three daughters, Joyce (Delmar) Griffith of Smithton, MO, Brenda Schneider of Corder, MO and Jeanette (David) Dobson of Lexington, MO, one brother, James (Sondra) Gilmore of Louisburg, KS; 15 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.

She is preceded in death by her husband Roy on June 8, 1991; one brother, Russell E. Gilmore.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday at Hoefer Chapel located at 1600 Main St. Higginsville, Missouri 64037 with the Rev. Tim Biesemeyer officiating and Harlan Reid, musician. Interment will be in City Cemetery, Higginsville, MO.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday, September 18, 2017, at Hoefer Chapel. Memorial contributions may be sent to Higginsville Ambulance Fund or Higginsville American Legion Post #223.

Casket bearers are Troy Dobson, Kyle Dobson, Dustin Schneider, Doug Limback, Micah Thurmon and Brett Hoeflicker. Honorary bearer Harvey Bedford.
