Bernice Mary Stinson, 91, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at The Madison. She was born on November 6, 1923 in Fort Madison, IA to Henry & Catherine Krieger Freitag. She was a longtime employee of the Sheaffer Pen Company and later was a machine operator at Gleason's with 15 years of service. She married Floyd B. Stinson in Fort Madison, they later divorced. She was of the Christian Faith and enjoyed cooking, playing the guitar and harmonica and most of all, spending time with her family.
Bernice is survived by: 1-daughter: Barbara (Lee) Haumann of Fort Madison, IA; 2-sons: Stanley (Pat) Stinson of Montrose, IA & Gary (Vicki) Stinson of Fort Madison, IA; 13-grandchildren; 13-great grandchildren; 6-great great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2-great grandchildren & 11-brothers & sisters.
Per her wishes, cremation has been entrusted to King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with a memorial service to immediately follow at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Bill Willis officiating. Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date. A memorial has been established for The Madison. Online condolences and a video tribute of Bernice's life may be viewed at the King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory website: www.kinglynk.com. A celebration of Bernice's life will be held in late April at the Eagle's Club in Fort Madison, an exact date will be determined later.
