Mrs. Betty Jo Tate Bivins, 86, of Shelby passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at White Oak Manor Nursing Home, following a long period of declining health.
Betty was born on February 2, 1935 in Gaston County to the late Cletus Odell Tate and Reba Bailey Tate. She worked for Fiber Industries in Earl, NC for 20 years, and Specialty Lighting for ten years. Betty also attended Northside Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Earl Bivins, a daughter, Deborah Ann Bivins Phillips, one son, Robert Earl (Bobby) Bivins Jr., a brother, Bill Tate and a sister, Shirley Stiles.
Betty is survived by two sons; Ronald Lynn Bivins, and Donald Rene Bivins and wife Gwen, all of Shelby, and a sister, Doris Tate Self and husband Morris of Gastonia. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Donald Bivins II and wife Pam, Haley Bivins Haire and husband Jason, Ronald Bivins II, and Kristi Hawkins and husband Chuck, her great-grandchildren; Austin Haire and wife Sarah, Justin Haire and wife Cada, Landon Hawkins, Caroline Bivins, Cloie Bivins, Kenidee Haire, Kenley Bivins, two great great-grandchildren; Connor Haire and Julius Haire, and a number of nieces and nephews.
No funeral services are planned at this time due to the Covid 19 virus.
