Mrs. Betty Lou Gardner Brittain, 85, of Hickory, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2019 at her residence, following a period of declining health. She was surrounded by her loved ones.
Betty was born August 3, 1934, in Yancey County, to the late William Gardner and Dora Woody Gardner. She was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church. She was a beloved homemaker and quilter.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Rondle Ervin Brittain; eight siblings; grand-niece Kayla R. Cable; and grand-nephew, Richie Collins.
She is survived by her children, Louann Woods and husband Ted, Mary J. Giles, Bobby Van McPeters and wife Laura, and Angela Dawn Coulter and husband Randy; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 26, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.
A graveside service will follow at Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Marion with Chaplain John Fowler officiating.
