Mrs. Betty McCants Morgan was born in 1937 in Florence, South Carolina. She was the daughter of Mr. Lonnie McCants, Sr. and Mrs. Hannah Abraham McCants. She departed this life on Friday, January 23, 2015 at Heritage Home of Florence, SC. Betty attended the public schools of Florence County and graduated from Wilson High School in 1955. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Francis Marion College (now University) in 1981. She was formerly employed with the Social Security Administration as a Service Representative, from which she retired. Betty was happily married to the love of her life, Johnnie Morgan from 1990 until 2010. They had a true love affair as well as a strong spiritual relationship and a real friendship. She was very happy to be his wife and they were devoted to each other. Johnnie and Betty worked hard to make their blended family a strong unit and they all shared many good times together. Betty also had a very special relationship with her daughter, Robin. They were very close as mother and daughter and very close as friends. She was very devoted to her entire family. She and her brothers and sisters enjoyed a close relationship all throughout their lives, which continued throughout her illness. She was always seeking out the best for her loved ones but she was known for "speaking her mind and saying what needed to be said." She shared words of wisdom that were welcomed by her family and friends. Betty was a member of Sumter West Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Her primary concern was her relationship with her creator Jehovah God. She spent countless hours volunteering in the Door-to-Door Ministry assisting people to learn the truth of the Bible about her creator Jehovah and his son Jesus. She wanted people to know about her hope of the resurrection and also her hope about paradise life soon to come here on earth (Rev 21:3-4). In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband, Johnnie Morgan and one brother, Lonnie McCants, Jr. Left to cherish her love and memories are: one daughter, Robin Adams of Charlotte, NC; two step daughters, Lisa (Alex) Alexander and Toni (Stephen) Washington, both of Sumter, SC; five grandchildren, Nathaniel (Deidre) Adams of Charlotte, NC, Cameron (Seth) McCurty of Fort Washington, MD, Brittany Adams of Charlotte, NC, Sherelle (Germaine) Mack of Sumter, SC, and Stephen (Keturah) Washington of Charleston, SC; two great grandchildren, Ace and Ayden Adams; two sisters, Alberta (Leroy) Durant and Jane Bonds; one brother, Maxie (Roberta) McCants; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Betty will truly be missed by her family and she will be in their hearts always.
