Betty Raulerson Ramirez, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at the age of 85.

Betty was born on April 27, 1932 in Holopaw, Florida to Early Tillman Raulerson and Odessa McWaters. She attended St. Cloud High School in St. Cloud, FL. Betty met and married (Ishmael) John Ramirez in FL. After deciding to return to her husband’s hometown, the two moved to the Kansas City area. Betty and John were married 61 years, before his death on May 8, 2014.

In addition to that perpetual role of motherhood, Betty worked in various positions – early on as a waitress; then later as a Keypunch Operator at the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Montgomery Ward’s; clerk at the U.S. Postal Service location in Avondale, MO; retiring from the Army Corps of Engineers as a Procurement Technician on August 31, 1996.

Betty was an avid reader, especially of detective/mysteries, whether set in present day or as historical fiction. She found the joy of Netflix late in life, allowing her to binge on favorite programs. In addition to her six children, she had many ‘furbabies’, including cats, dogs, chickens, ducks, rabbits, horses and ponies, and a guinea pig. Obviously, there was much free time to tend to her flower garden, and tomatoes.

She was an active member of St. Gabriel’s Church.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, and husband, and one child, Ishmael John Ramirez, Jr. She is survived by both sisters, Lilian Pauline Downing of Holopaw, Florida and Marsha Faye (Bart) Cobb of Franklin, North Carolina; children, Gene (Claudia) Ramirez, Marisa (David) McMaster, Vincent (Jeanne) Ramirez, Victor (Ginger) Ramirez and Andy Ramirez; (7) grandchildren, Marcie Ramirez (Daniel Disch), Zachary (Sylvia) Ramirez, Shelby McMaster, Mikaela (Tyler) Stout, Lindsay (Jake) Kocyon, Noah (Jamie) Curtis and Rachel (Sean) Hale; (14) great-grandchildren, Gideon Ramirez-Disch, Thomas Ramirez, Evelyn Shannon McMaster, Estella McMaster, Lyric McMaster, Kaden Stout, Severin Stout, Alice Kocyon, Tripp Curtis, Snow Curtis, Carter Hale, Camden Hale, Xander Hale and Zoey Hale.

Rosary Service is scheduled for Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 6:00pm at White Chapel Funeral Home, with visitation from 6:30pm to 8:00pm at White Chapel. Funeral Service Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 11:00am at St. Gabriel Parish, with burial to follow at Forest Hill Calvary Cemetery.
