Bettye Greene Averett, 83, of Central, LA, joined her husband who has been waiting for her at the gates of Heaven on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018. Bettye was a very active member at Blackwater United Methodist Church and served her Lord in many areas such as a greeter and a member of the Sew and Sew Ladies Group. She also worked at Montgomery Wards beginning in the 60's and retired after over 35 years of service. Bettye was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew her. Visitation will be held at Blackwater United Methodist Church, Central, on Thursday, Jan. 11, from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow on the grounds of Colyell Community Cemetery. She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Alliene and Jay Dykes, and Lee and Terry Wilks; grandchildren, Michelle Dykes Ensimger (Tom), Melinda Dykes McCarty (Eric), J'Mikel Dykes, Terry Steven Wilks, Jr (Keli), Holly Wilks Hanley (Kevin), Hunter Wilks; great-grandchildren, Leah McCarty, Wyatt Ensimger, Jacob Ensimger, Ethan McCarty, Brody Ensimger, MykelAnn Dykes, Colton Dykes, Aiden Wilks, Clara Wilks, Levi "L.V. Little" Wilks, Finn Hanley, and Saylor Hanley; sister, Evelyn Robinson Smith; as well as many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, L.V. Averett; son, Joseph Averett; and parents, Leo and Myra Greene. A special thank you to her longtime friend, Carolyn Davis, for her love and care given to Mrs. Bettye. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blackwater United Methodist Church, Central, LA.
