Bettye was born on March 29, 1934 and passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2016.

Bettye was a resident of Grapevine, Texas at the time of passing.

She attended Dunbar-Douglass High School in Mexia.Bettye went on to college at Houston-Tillotson College in Austin, Texas where she studied chemistry and mathematics. She received her bachelor's degree in 1954.

Bettye was married to Stanley Joseph Bell.
