Beverly Ann Phillips Byrd, 61, of Folkston died Thursday night (March 26, 2015) at Mayo Clinic Health System at Waycross following a brief illness. She was a native of Clearwater FL where she lived her early life and also a former resident of Live Oak FL before making her home in Charlton County. She was the daughter of the late James Thomas Phillips and Zanie Lee Dryden Phillips. She was also preceded in death by a daughter Christina Louise Johnson and a sister, Geneva Hawthorne. Mrs. Byrd was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church of Folkston and St. Mary's and was a former long-time member of the Folkston Lions Club. Her main occupation was being a homemaker and taking care of her husband and children and any other children that frequented their home. She was also a former beautician and day care provider. Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Jim Byrd of Folkston, a daughter Cynthia Anne Byrd-Zieger, Phd,(husband Hans) of Salisbury MD, 2 sons James Thornton Byrd, III of Folkston and Jason Lee Byrd (wife Chanci) of Folkston, 15 grandchildren, Jamie Lee Johnson, Jolie Johnson, Jacob Banes, Jaden Johnson, John Johnson, Shelby Norsworthy (husband John), Lorrie Byrd, Jim David Byrd, Kodi Current, Mackenzi Brazier, LeAnne Carter, Zanie Mariah Byrd, James Michael (George) Byrd, Gannon Byrd, and Waylon Byrd; 2 great grandchildren, Jameson Carter and Hayden Carter; 2 sisters Frances Reynolds of Cross City FL and Thelma Gay (husband Mickey) of Live Oak FL, a brother Harvey Phillips of Brooksville FL and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A benefit fund has been established to help the family with medical and final expenses. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the "Beverly Byrd Benefit Fund" c/o FNB South Bank, 4322 2nd Street, North, Folkston GA 31537. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday (April 8, 2015) at Music Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Little Phoebe Cemetery in Charlton County. The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday (April 7, 2015) at Music Funeral home. Sympathy can be expressed b y signing the online registry at www.musicfuneralhome.com.
