Blaisdell Benedict Willis III of Kennesaw passed away after a battle with cancer on January 14, 2017. Blaise, the first child of Blaisdell and Emily Willis, was born on September 13, 1944, in Hackensack, New Jersey.
He spent his early years in New Jersey and enlisted in the U.S. Army upon graduation from Riverdell High School. While in the army, Blaise served in the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper. Upon completion of his 4 year tour, Blaise attended Montclair State University and graduated with a degree in chemistry in 1972. It was during his college years that he met and married his soul-mate of 46 years, Marianne.
Blaise worked as a chemist for the U.S. Government for 30 years. During that time he worked in New York, Athens, Savannah and Marietta, Georgia and Nebraska. Because of his work ethic and competence, he left a lasting mark in each of these locations.
The father of 2 sons, Christopher and Blaisdell, he was actively involved in coaching as his sons developed. Known for his quick wit, his tremendous generosity and his love of family, Blaise was also "a gentleman farmer" who took great pride in the many plants he cultivated in various gardens. He leaves behind his loving wife, Marianne (Lynch), his sons Blaisdell, his wife Stefanie and their three daughters - Grace, Megan and Lauren, and Christopher, his wife Riann and their 2 children - Daisy and David, two brothers, Bill (Robin) of Miami and Dan (Diane) of Oradell, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home on Friday, January 20, from 12pm-2pm. A Celebration of his Life service will follow the visitation on Friday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to Boys Town or Saint Joseph's Indian School.
