Bob Wood was born May 30, 1929, in Houston, AR. He passed away on Friday, October 20, 2017, at the age of 88.

Born and raised in Arkansas for the first few years of his life, Bob and his family moved to Madera, CA on his eleventh birthday. He called the Central Valley of California home for the remainder of his lifetime.

Bob was a proud member of the 1948 graduating class of Lemoore High School, embarking in a farming venture soon after in Firebaugh, CA, that evolved into a generational family business. His beloved "El Rancho del Starvo" was better known as Wood Farms, followed by BEWCO, and later Wood Farming. Bob also farmed in the Mendota, CA, and Kerman, CA areas. In later years, his two youngest sons, Mike and Doug, became partners and farm the properties to this day along with Bob's grandson, Brian.

Bob wore many hats alongside being a farmer, such as community servant, pilot, hunter, and golfer, to name a few. He served on the Dos Palos High School Board for eight years, the Oro Loma Elementary School Board for four years, and the West Hills College Board for 27 years. He also served on several other boards including CPCSD, Ranchers Cotton Oil and Broad View Co-Op Gin. He is a Past Master of the Dos Palos Masonic Lodge #681. Bob had a love for golf and enjoyed being a member and playing countless rounds at the Madera Golf & Country Club. One of Bob's passions was owning and flying airplanes as a private pilot for 50 years. His ultimate passion was hunting and the fact he influenced his sons and grandsons to follow this passion was one of his greatest joys.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Marvin and Pauline Wood; and his brother, Paul Wood.

He is survived by Ann, his wife of 65 years; his four children, Andy Wood and wife Cathy, Sandy Budd and husband Mike, Mike Wood and wife Jan, and Doug Wood and wife Debie; his seven grandchildren, Danielle Telford and husband Richard, Shawn Wood, Jacqueline Wilson and husband Brad, Kiersten Wood, Brian Wood, Brittany Wood, and Tiffany Radcliff and husband Thomas; and four great-grandchildren, Grace, Emily, Elise, and Will.

Bob's family would like to thank the staff at Paintbrush Assisted Living and Memory Care for the phenomenal care and support they provided.

A Funeral Service will be held at Stephens & Bean Chapel on Friday, October 27, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. followed immediately with a burial at Belmont Memorial Park. A Remembrance Celebration will be held at Fort Washington Golf & Country Club, 10272 N. Millbrook, Fresno, CA, immediately following the services.

In lieu of flowers, the family would be pleased if you would honor Bob with donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 332 N. Lauderdale St., Memphis, TN 38105; Firebaugh-Mendota United Methodist Church, 1660 O Street, Firebaugh, CA 93622; or to the donors favorite charity.
