Bonnie L. Schwan passed away peacefully in Acworth, Georgia on November 27, 2017 after a long illness. She was born on August 18, 1942 in Racine, Wisconsin to the late W. Vernon and Lorraine Carls. Bonnie moved to Georgia in 2016 after living in Great Falls, Virginia for the previous 38 years. She is survived by her husband, Carl Schwan; step-children Amber (Sean) Barry and Scott (Amy) Schwan; grandchildren Colby, Landon, and Parker Schwan and Amanda, Liza, and Adeline Barry; her brother W. Ronald (Mary) Carls; and their children, W. Thomas (Cory Ann) Carls, Tamara (Gary) Shortess, Timothy (Franca) Carls, and Trish (Darrell) Howard, with whom Bonnie was particularly close. Bonnie graduated from Dominican College in Racine and was an elementary school teacher for over 20 years in Wisconsin, Hawaii, and the Washington D.C. area. Bonnie will be greatly missed by her family and her very many friends. Visitation will be held at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home (www.dignitymemorial.com), commencing from twelve o'clock in the afternoon until two on Monday, December 4, 2017, followed by a Catholic burial service. A memorial service will be held in Racine, Wisconsin at a later date.
