Bruce Robert Bacia, Sr., passed away peacefully on July 4, 2017, at the age of 69 at home with his family by his side.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Deyanira Bacia; his children, Angelica Bookout and her husband Travis Bookout; Bruce Bacia, Jr., and his wife Ana Nyssa Bacia. He is also survived by his grandsons, Sean Zachary Bookout and John "Jack" Avery Bacia.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bruno and Bernice Bacia, his sister Priscilla Reich, brother-in-law Robert Reich, and his nephew Robert Reich.

Bruce was born on April 22,1948, in Chicago, Illinois, to Bruno and Bernice Bacia. He held degrees from The University of Notre Dame and The University of Texas at Austin, and remained in Austin until his passing. He worked at Mendez Middle School in Austin as an Assistant Principal for over 20 years until his retirement in 2010.

Bruce was known for his love of music, playing guitar, singing, and most of all, his beloved Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He loved watching sports and being with his family, especially his grandsons who knew him as "Grampy".

Family and friends will celebrate and honor the life of Bruce on Saturday, July 8, 2017, starting at 2:00 P.M., with a Recitation of the Rosary at 2:30 P.M., followed by Services at 3:00 P.M., in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home officiated by Deacon Art Cavazos. Interment will follow the Services at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
