Calvin Dewayne Collins, 62, retired engineer for NASA and resident of Jade Pointe Drive in Decatur, Alabama, died Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.
A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 11:00 A.M. at Knob Creek Cemetery with his son, Brian Collins and Bro. Paul Cheshier officiating. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements and condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.
Born May 8, 1954 in Maury County, he was the son of Calvin Robert Collins of Spring Hill and the late Lennie Sullivan Collins. He was a 1973 graduate of Spring Hill High School and graduated from Columbia State Community College and Athens State College.
In addition to his father, survivors include his wife, Linda Stephens Collins of Decatur, AL; daughter, Shannon (Mike) Allred of Decatur, AL; son, Brian (Amanda) Collins of Decatur, AL; grandchildren, Zoie Collins, Zanna Collins, Zimeri Collins, and Zadie Collins, and Ella Allred all of Decatur, AL; and sister, Brenda Collins of Columbia.
Active pallbearers will be Brian Collins, Mike Allred, Dennis Stephens, Jerry Stephens, Tommy Stanfill, and Ronnie Sparkman. Honorary pallbearers include Mike and Pansy Saylor.
