Carl Daniel “Dan” Cordrey, age 83, of Bedford, Texas passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Cordrey and son Danny Cordrey. Dan is survived by his daughter Carey Lind Cappa, and her husband Robert.

Dan was born in 1933 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was a giant of a man with a heart even bigger. His life was full of excitement. Dan was a pilot, the president of Jim Dandy Boxes, a corrugated manufacturing production facility in Grand Prairie. He started the company after a partnership called Stecor Paper in 1962. He was very proud that his business is a family owned and operated business and the whole family worked together on and off from 1962 to the present day.

Dan wrote books, told stories, owned planes and a small airport. At one time he and his wife even flew into South America.

Everyone who knew Dan would tell you what a loving interesting man he was. He was known to reach out to complete strangers to help them – in life and in business and formed long lasting relationships with so many people it would be impossible to note them all here.

To honor his life, a memorial service will be held on Saturday at 12:30pm at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in the chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ASPCA in the name of Robert and Carey Cappa; the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America in Dan’s Honor; or the Leukemia Society in the name of Virginia Cordrey.

We thank you for your show of support and caring during this difficult time.
